Fire Pit

48" x 48" Fire Pit

This is our first fire pit plan available on our website. We understand that not everyone wants a huge fireplace in their backyard and that some may want a simple, inexpensive fire pit instead. For this reason we offer you this construction plan for a 48" x 48" square fire pit design. The inside "pit" dimension measures 32" x 32" which is great for a large fire. The total seat height is approximately 18" depending on what material you use to top it off. The optional cap block provides a nice solid surface for you to stucco the entire structure if you choose to not top the structure with flagstone or poured concrete. This will keep the cost down and will make for a quick build. This fire pit requires no block cutting to complete the rough build.

The Fire Pit plan has a total of 15 pages.

Materials

Concrete (cinder) block:

8x8x16 – (16)
Cap block – (8) (Optional)

Additional building materials:

Mortar – 2 bags
Firebrick

Costs

8x8x16 - $1.25 each @ 16 = $20.00
Cap block - $1.00 @ 8 = $8.00
Mortar - $4.00 @ 2 bags = $8.00
Firebrick - $1.60 @ 50 = $80.00
Approx. rough build total = $116.00

About Us

I had seen outdoor kitchens and fireplaces in magazines and on TV and thought I would inquire with a contractor about having them built. I provided the contractors with example pictures of barbeques and fireplaces I liked and received quotes as high as $7,800 to build just the fireplace. more...
